Volvo Designed Concepts

With the anticipation of a four-cylinder engine under the hood Volvo isn’t breaking in any new driveline or suspension technologies yet it has released  three concept cars over the last year.  The concepts exercise is clearly  demonstrating leading Scandinavian design.  The three concepts have very similar looks and lighting up front and in the rear yet the silhouettes are different.

The Concept Coupe, XC Coupe and Estate have two doors each and a rear hatch of varying angles with a high lift over height.  The rear hatch of the Concept Coupe is a fastback like that of a sports car and the rear hatch of the Concept Estate is closer to vertical like that of a station wagon.

When you examine the exteriors it’s easy to see the similarities.  Volvo is actually going forward in styling with a deep respect and honor to the rugged sports car variations they sold over 40 years ago in more Saintly times.  Now under Chinese leadership the Scandinavian Volvo Corp. has deep pockets to exercise styling leadership.

These three models will not go into production yet you will see their styling influence across the line within two years.  The interiors are made of the finest name-brand products.  Wool carpet, leather seats, Crystal gearshift lever that glows orange and shoulder harness buckles that are the most beautiful jewelry I’ve ever seen for you to wear in a luxurious automobile.  I imagined they would be safe and fun to drive?
